Blueprint for Success

Consider your learning style. Students who do best in eLearning courses are those who are highly motivated, can work independently, and are confident in their ability to complete assignments on time.

Ask questions. Prior to enrolling see what you can find out about eLearning at PSC. If you know someone who has taken an eLearning course at PSC, ask him/her to provide you with as much information as possible. Once enrolled, don’t hesitate to ask your instructor questions. Be proactive!

Assume nothing. Don’t think for a moment that a distance learning course will be easier than its face-to-face counterpart. In fact, most students find eLearning courses to be equivalent to the on-campus experience in terms of rigor and content.

Take the Student Orientation Course. Completing this brief tutorial before classes begin will save you time in the long run and facilitate your eLearning experience.

Read your course syllabus carefully. Do this first. If there is something you don’t understand, ask your instructor about it as soon as possible. Make sure you are comfortable with the nature of the assignments, due dates, and grading policies.

Plan ahead. Success in a distance learning course depends to a great extent on your ability to manage your time and schedule. Waiting until the last minute to submit an assignment is never a good idea.

Address technical issues immediately. Although uncommon, technical issues can emerge in eLearning classes. If this happens, delaying any action can change a minor issue into something much more difficult to resolve. Help for technical issues is available 24/7 by text, email, phone, and chat.
